This policy explains what this website collects and what we do with it. It covers drdawson.com only. How we handle your health and treatment records as a patient is covered separately by our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices. Please ask at the front desk for a copy.
Please don’t send medical details through this website
The forms on this site are for requesting an appointment or asking a general question. They are not a secure or private channel, and we cannot guarantee the confidentiality of anything sent through them. Please do not type symptoms, diagnoses, medications or other health information into a web form. Call us at (972) 317-1581 and we will take those details properly.
This is also not the place for a dental emergency. If you are in pain or have had an injury, call the office.
What we collect when you fill in a form
Our appointment and contact forms ask for your name, email address, phone number and a message. When you submit one, that information is recorded in a private spreadsheet that our team uses to respond to you. We use it to get back to you and to arrange your visit. We do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.
What we collect automatically
Like most websites, this one uses Google Analytics (through Google Firebase) to understand how people find and use the site: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are located, and what browser and device they use. This tells us which information patients are actually looking for.
We also record when someone taps the phone number or email address on the page, and when a form is submitted. The contents of your form are never sent to Google Analytics. We record only the fact that a form was used.
Cookies
This site sets two cookies, both belonging to Google Analytics:
- _ga: tells returning visits apart from new ones. Expires after two years.
- _ga_3REZ6HEYHR: keeps track of a single visit. Expires after two years.
We do not use advertising or marketing cookies, and we do not run retargeting. Google’s advertising features are switched off on this site, so your visit here is not used to build an advertising profile or matched to your Google account for ad targeting.
Turning analytics off
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site will work normally without them. Google also publishes a browser add-on that switches Google Analytics off everywhere, at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Other services on this site
A few parts of the site are provided by other companies, and your browser contacts them to load that content: Google (analytics and fonts), Elfsight (the patient review feed) and Font Awesome (icons). Each of these receives your IP address as part of the ordinary business of loading a web page.
Children
We treat children as patients, and we’re glad to. But this website is not directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them online. If a child has sent us something through this site, please call and we will remove it.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold from this website, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Call (972) 317-1581 or email office@drdawson.com. Requests about your dental records are handled under our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices instead.
